Muay Thai / Kickboxing
Muay Thai is an international style of kickboxing that blends the science of western boxing with the art of eastern kicking. Students are taught various striking techniques ranging from kicks, punches, knee & elbow strikes. Muay Thai / Kickboxing is the most effective form of striking arts. It is the perfect blend of modern training with traditional values. This is a great way to get into incredible shape, learn an effective self-defense method or as a springboard into competitive kickboxing.
Level I - The class focus is on developing both real kickboxing techniques and physical conditioning. This class breaks down into technique development, bag work, focus mitt work, kickboxing drills and conditioning training. There is no sparring (practice fighting).
Requirements: gym shirt, 16oz. gloves, hand wraps and a desire to get sweaty.
Level II – The focus of this class is to teach the science of fighting. The class uses drills, both individual and partner training to develop skills used in the ring and/or self-defense. Light sparring is introduced in this class, it prepares you for the next level. This is the sparring class. In this course students practice their fighting skills in both boxing and/or kickboxing. The amount varies on the individuals training needs and focus.
Requirements: gym shirt, two months of Level I and/or instructor recommendation. 16oz. gloves, hand wraps, shin guards, head gear, mouthpiece, groin protector (men).
