About Guy Mezger
The Coach Who
Fought the Best.

Guy Mezger came up in an era when there were no gloves, no weight classes, and no excuses. He won the Ultimate Fighting Championship tournament, was three times crowned King of Pancrase — Japan's World Free Fighting title — and fought legends in PRIDE FC when mixed martial arts was still being invented in real time. In all, he won six world titles across four separate full-contact sports, including World Kickboxing and two World Full Contact Karate championships.
But ask Guy what he's proudest of and he won't mention a belt. He'll point at the mats. For more than 30 years he has taught martial arts in North Texas — 6 world champion athletes, 8 national champions, nervous first-timers, five-year-olds, law enforcement, and US military Special Forces units — with a single philosophy: technique over ego, safety over bravado, and respect on and off the mat.
A 7th degree black belt with a PhD in holistic health, Guy has been inducted into the Texas, Masters, IMAA, and Universal Martial Arts Halls of Fame, served as Defensive Tactics Instructor for the Dallas Police Academy, and was named 2001 Martial Arts Instructor of the Year. He teaches the way he wishes he'd been taught: nobody is forced to spar, nobody gets thrown in the deep end.
Today, Mezger Martial Arts is the martial arts program at Hidden Gym, operating inside both Hidden Gym locations in Richardson and North Dallas. Your membership is a Hidden Gym membership — unlimited classes plus the full gym floor, strength equipment, and open mat.
